Anne Shirley is grown up, has married her beloved Gilbert, and is the mother of six. A strange family moves into an old nearby mansion, and the Meredith children join the Blythes in new adventures.

Anne Shirley leaves Avonlea to study to become a teacher at Redmond College and when she returns for her first summer, she finds life in Green Gables subtly changed.

Anne's children were almost grown up, except for pretty, high-spirited Rilla. At almost fifteen, Rilla can't think farther ahead than going to her first dance and getting her first kiss. But new challenges await her when her brothers go off to fight in a war and she brings home an orphaned newborn in a soup tureen.
